Sean Patrick Wade (born February 2, 1966 in Wellington) is a long-distance runner from New Zealand, who represented his native country in the men's marathon at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia). There he finished in 83rd place. Wade was also a member of the Kiwi team at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, where he ended up in 11th position in the men's steeplechase. He now currently resides in Houston, Texas. Sean Wade, graduate of Rice University, Houston, Texas has competed for 20 years as a professional runner both internationally and nationally. He was named the fastest master's runner in the world in 2006, being named 2006 Male Masters Runner of the Year by The Road Runners Club Of America(RRCA), as well as being selected as the 2006 Masters 40-44 Runner of the Year by The Running Times Magazine. Sean achieved these honors by winning nearly all the major road races in the United States in 2006 with his wins including Carlsbad 5K, Peachtree 10K, Crescent City Classic 10K, Utica 15K, Azalea Trail, Bay to Breakers 12K and the Bloomsday 12K. Sean is one of only two men over 40 years old to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Trials which he did by running 2hrs 20mins at the 2007 Chevron Houston Marathon. Other achievements include competing in the 1996 Olympic Marathon, qualifying with his personal best marathon timeof 2:10:59. He is currently the cross-country and track coach at Kinkaid High School and has been coaching runners for the past 10 years through his training group, The Kenyan Way. Sean's local achievements include winning the 2003 Houston Marathon and being a top five finisher in six Houston Marathon appearances. He holds numerous course records including the Conoco 10K, Rockets Run, Memorial City 5K, HBU Hustle, Baytown Heat Wave 5 Miler, Rudy T. Twilight Run and the Houston Dome Run 10K.
