Popular in Bay Area of Northern California, United States usually associated with the hyphy music and lifestyle movement. An example of hyphy is shown in the E-40 lyrics "sittin' in my scraper watching Oakland goin' wild". A scraper is a general tag and can be a number of different cars, the most popular being Buick Regal and Le Sabre, but other popular models include Pontiac Bonneville, Buick Century, Oldsmobile Delta 88, Buick Riviera, Buick Reatta, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, Cutlass Supreme, Pontiac Grand Prix, Lexus SC, full size conversion vans, Chevrolet Caprice Classic, and Chevrolet Impala. Supercharged automobiles are particularly sought after due to their high performance. Similar to donks from the south, the cars are highly customized, with large custom rims (22's, 24's, 26's, and 27 inch rims being most popular and common), custom paint (two-tone is currently popular) and custom interior to match the paint, loud audio or loud expensive speakers (called slap) and televisions. Scrapers are common all around the Bay Area, especially in Oakland.
