Scholars At Risk is based on the principle of academic freedom and it supports the freedom to pursue scholarship and research without discrimination, censorship, intimidation, or violence .It also helps acdemics facing risk to leave for safer countries.It was founded during a Human Rights Program in the University of Chicago in 1999. It has its headquarters in the Greenwich Village campus of New York University.
