Schlock is a 1972 film, loosely based on a King Kong storyline about a gigantic ape. It was directed by John Landis, and starred make-up artist Rick Baker as the gorilla. It opened in West Germany on 17 September, 1982 and in Hollywood in March of 1973. Though the film was done on a very low budget and lacks quality, Rick Baker's performance was noted by producer Dino De Laurentiis, who cast Baker for the uncredited role of the authentic giant ape in De Laurentiis' remake of the 1933 King Kong.
