San Miguel de Sema is a town and municipality in Boyacá Department, Colombia, part of the the subregion of the Western Boyacá Province.

Is one of the 123 municipalities of the department of Boyacá , Colombia , located to the West of the department in the coordinates: latitude N 5°, 31´; length. 0 73°; 44', to an altitude of 2,615 m.s.n.m. Is surrounded by the municipalities by Chiquinquirá , Simijacá ( Cundinamarca ), Fúquene (Cundinamarca), Ráquira , Tinjacá

History

Foundation and establishment The town was founded on 1915 and recognized like municipality on the year of 1960. In 1.925 was group of judges conformed by the paths old cattle ranch, Sirigay, Quintone and Peñablanca. Luis Alberto Ospina was the leader who managed the creation from the Municipality to his death his children continued the foundation process that occurred in 1.960.

Economy

The main source of income of the municipality is the milk cattle ranch, specially Holstein cattle, its production is so important that nowadays some of the producing companies of milky derivatives, have installed storing centers. Zones of the municipality still exist where the main line mainly continues being agriculture potatoe and corn.

Tourism

• The church in tribute to San Miguel arcángel is one of but the beautiful ones of the department

Celebrations

Fairs and Celebration made in the second week of November, 10, 11 and 12, summon to the inhabitants and neighbors of the region by means of run of bulls and equina and bovine exhibition. Santo Patrono: San Miguel Arcángel.

Data peculiar

In spite of the years of foundation, the population of the municipality does not grow, in the residents due to the displacement that must do jòvenes to other cities, to continue its studies at least; Tunja (capital of Boyacà)y [ [ Bogota D.C. ] ] they are the cities where are many of the sanmigueleños.
