SAGA Falabella is a department store chain in Peru, formed in 1996 through the acquisition by the Chilean Falabella chain of the former SAGA (Sociedad Andina de los Grandes Almacenes, S. A.) chain. SAGA was formed in 1953 under the name Sears Roebuck del Perú S. A. In 1984 it was renamed to the SAGA initials, as Sears began abandoning its Peruvian operations due to the unstable business environment under Peruvian President Alan García. The legal name became Saga Falabella in 1999; the new Chilean owners decided to keep the SAGA name to better establish themselves in the Peruvian market.
