Sabas Pretelt de la Vega was the Colombian minister of the Interior and Justice between November 2003 and September 2006. He was born in Cartagena in 1946. He is an economist and humanist by training, has a masters degree en business administration and has been a professor at several Colombian universities. Prior to being a member of Alvaro Uribe's cabinet, Sabas Pretelt was the president of Fenalco, the Colombian Association of Commerce. His successor is Carlos Holguín Sardi, since 2006. As of September 2006, Pretelt has labored as Colombian ambassador to Italy, Greece and the FAO.
