Roy Firestone (born on December 8, 1953 in Miami Beach, Florida) is a commentator and sports journalist. Firestone is a graduate of Miami Beach High School and the University of Miami.

Television career

He began his career and as a sports anchor and reporter in Miami Beach before moving to Los Angeles as a sports anchor, from 1977 to 1985, for KCBS-TV. From 1980-90, he was the host of ESPN's SportsLook and was also the host of Up Close Prime Time. In addition to being a journalist, Firestone is also a critically-acclaimed performer. He has made appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman, Larry King Live, and Nightline. He has also performed for numerous corporate clients including Anheuser Busch, Chevron, Nike and Toyota. He starred in a Married with Children episode and presented the Al Bundy Sport Spectacular. Currently, he is the host of HDNet's Face to Face with Roy Firestone and AOL's Time Out with Roy Firestone.

Jerry Maguire

Firestone also appeared in the 1996 hit movie Jerry Maguire, which, in part, was based on the character ("Bob Sugar") of fellow University of Miami graduate Drew Rosenhaus, an NFL agent notorious for his aggressive representation of NFL players. Firestone lives in Los Angeles, California.

Biff Barnes

Firestone would often entertain his viewers by doing a character called "Biff Barnes" who was a caricature of minor league baseball announcers.
