Rosemary "Rosie" Miller (legally Swann) was a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. She was played by Gerry Cowper.

Character

Rosie is a hardworking and proud mother of four. Her mother committed suicide when she was young, leaving her with her brother, Clint, and other siblings. Rosie was married to Mike Swann, and they had two children, Mickey, and Dawn. While they were still very young, Mike left Rosie with them, and he wasn't seen for many years. Rosie later met Keith Miller, who took on her children as his own before having twins, Darren and Demi. He cannot read (although recently he's been making great progress in his attempts to learn how) and is work-shy, tending to sit around watching television all day, making excuses to Rosie as to why he doesn't go and find employment. She stands by him. Since arriving on the show in 2004, Rosie works to support the whole family with an array of cleaning jobs, and also takes care of her granddaughter, Aleesha, while Demi and Darren go to school. In December 2005, Rosie's ex-husband Mike was left homeless and stayed at the Millers' home. Rosie and Mike had an affair, and she planned to leave Keith for Mike, taking Darren, Demi and Aleesha with them. Mickey and Dawn found out about this, and Mickey tried to convince her not to leave. Eventually, she decided she couldn't take the twins away from their father, and chose to stay with Keith. Rosie told Keith about her affair, but did not mention she had planned to leave. Keith forgave her, but Dawn let slip that Rosie had planned to leave. Keith then left Rosie and stayed with Garry Hobbs and Minty Peterson. Keith moved back in when he proposed to Rosie, but he didn't really want to get married. Keith kept putting off the wedding, but Rosie didn't want to wait, and the wedding ceremony took place on 4 July 2006 at Walford Register Office. However, Keith turned up late with mud on his suit. Rosie couldn't go through with the wedding and jilted Keith halfway through the ceremony. The next day, she told Keith she had fallen out of love with him, and wanted to take a job in the Cotswolds, and take Darren, Demi and Aleesha with her. The following day they left the Square, but Darren did not want to go. Rosie convinced Keith to make sure Darren left with them. Keith told Darren he didn't care about him, so Darren was upset and left with his mum, sister and niece. However, Rosie could see how upset he was, and decided to tell him that Keith made it all up, and Rosie then allowed him to stay in Walford.
