Roger Altman is an investment banker and former United States Deputy Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton. He is a graduate of The Roxbury Latin School, Georgetown University and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. In his professional pursuits Roger Altman is a senior investment banker. He was a general partner of Lehman Brothers from 1974 to 1977. From 1977 to 1981 he served as the Assistant Secretary of the United States Department of the Treasury, during which time he helped oversee the then-troubled financial affairs of Chrysler. In 1981, he returned to Lehman Brothers, where he became the co-head of investment banking and served on the board of the company and the management committee. In 1987, Mr. Altman joined the Blackstone Group as vice-chairman, head of merger and acquisition advisory and a member of the investment committee. In 1993 Mr Altman returned to Washington DC to serve as the Deputy Secretary of the US Treasury, before resigning in 1994 because of a record-keeping scandal [1] [2]. In 1996 he co-founded Evercore Partners, an investment and advisory company in New York, and currently serves as Chairman and Co-CEO. Altman was an advisor to John Kerry during Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign. [3].
