Rock Cartwright (born December 3, 1979 in Conroe, Texas) is an American football player who currently plays running back for the Washington Redskins of the NFL. Cartwright attended Conroe High School, which is known for its powerhouse football program, in Conroe, Texas, and lettered in football, track and field, and baseball. During his senior year, Cartwright rushed for 2,060 yards and was named a Parade All American. [1] Cartwright played college football at Kansas State University at the fullback position. He was picked in the 7th round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Redskins.

NFL Career

2002 Season

In his first season, Cartwright rushed 3 times for 22 yards and had 11 receptions for 121 yards. He also returned 10 kicks for 169 yards.

2003 Season

In his second year, Cartwright was used much more. He rushed 107 times for 411 yards and had 18 receptions for 176 yards.

2004 Season

When Clinton Portis was traded to the Redskins, Cartwright didn't have many chances to make plays. He only rushed the ball twice for 0 net yards. Cartwright suffered his worst season.

2005 Season

Rock ran the ball 27 times for 199 yards and had 2 receptions for 23 yards. He also had 4 kickoff returns for 82 total yards.

2006 Season

Rock wasn't used on offense much during the season but was a big threat on special teams. Cartwright broke the Redskins' single-season kickoff return yards record with 64 returns for 1541 yards.

Trivia

  • Cartwright was the highest rated Fullback in the video game NCAA Football 2002.
  • His grandmother used to call him "Rock Baby" but as he grew older, his family dropped the "baby" and he's been known as Rock ever since.
  • In Madden 08, the developers forgot to issue Rock a rating under the kick return category. Rock's rating shows as being a "0." Since the games release, there have been 5 title updates and Rock's rating is still listed as a zero.
