Robert Ludwell Yates Peyton (February 8, 1822September 3, 1863) was born in Loudoun County, Virginia. He was a member of the Missouri State Senate in 1858. During the Civil War, he served as a colonel in the Confederate Army. He was a delegate from Missouri in the Provisional Confederate Congress and afterwards was elected to the Confederate States Senate. Peyton died in Bladon Springs, Alabama on September 3, 1863 after catching malaria while defending Vicksburg, Mississippi.
