The doctrine of responsibility in Unification Church theology is often poorly understood by outsiders. It is actually key to the Divine Principle ideology, and relates both to the Mission of the Messiah and to the Three Blessings, as well as to the church's doctrine of Predestination. God's predestination is partial and relative. If a person fulfills their preordained role, God's predestination of that person's life is fulfilled. But it's up to the person to fulfill their God-given responsibility. It is the fulfillment of one's responsibility to grow in maturity and love that completes the individual's Purpose of Life.

  • The original ideal of creation is that men and women would be born in purity within the true lineage and grow up through the indirect dominion of God. During this time, guided by the Principle as well as human responsibility, men and women would mature into perfection. [1]
