Red (Bokmål: Rødt, Nynorsk: Raudt, Northern Sami: Ruoksat) is a Norwegian Revolutionary socialist political party, founded on 11 March 2007. It is the result of a fusion between Workers' Communist Party (AKP) and Red Electoral Alliance (RV). The leader of Red is Torstein Dahle, the previous leader of the Red Electoral Alliance. Due to Norwegian election laws the party will still be recognized as the Red Electoral Alliance during the 2007 local elections. In 2007 Knut Henning Thygesen was elected as the first and only mayor of the party through a direct mayor election.[1]
