The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam (commonly known as RIT is situated in Pampady 14 km from Kottayam. Founded in 1991, it is one among best engineering institutions in Kerala and its courses are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.

General Information

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology is located in Pampady, Kottayam district, Kerala State, India. It was started in 1991 with 6 courses of study, computer science and engineering,electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, and MCA. Though initially named Government Engineering College (GEC) Kottayam, the college was renamed Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, in memory of the former Indian Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated just four months prior to the establishment of the college. It is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India.

The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam, is one of the few technical institutions in South India, which admits students on a mostly meritorial basis through an All Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination.

Admissions

  • Admission to the undergraduate courses in engineering are made through the Common Entrance Examination(CEE) conducted by the Government of Kerala inorder to facilitate admission to the engineering colleges in Kerala. Usually
  • Admissions to the post graduate courses (M.Tech) in engineering are made through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
  • There are separate entrance tests for admissions to the MCA course.
