RED Distribution (formely Relativity Entertainment Distribution) is a Sony BMG-owned record distributor that handles releases for some 42 record labels. A distributor in the US, RED distributes for labels including The End Records, Psychopathic Records, Fat Wreck Chords, The Militia Group, Northern Records, and Victory Records. Recent successful RED acts include the bands Los Lonely Boys and Switchfoot, who were later promoted to Sony BMG's major labels. RED Distribution was founded in 1979 as a heavy metal music distributor called Important Record Distributors, which originally released Metallica's first two LPs in the US. It became Red Distribution by the '90s. American Idol stars Elliott Yamin and Constantine Maroulis are both signed with RED for distribution with their labels, Hickory Records and Sixth Place Records. They also distribute Young Buck's Ca$hville Records.[1]
