- R. Ashley Alder (born 1948 Sunderland UK), British born glass engineer who pioneered advanced glass bending technologies in the United States. He founded the international glass firm of Precision Glass Bending Corporation in Greenwood Arkansas. Ashley attended Jarrow Grammar School and graduated with a glass engineering degree from the Glass Technology Department of Sheffield University, Sheffield, UK.
