Prince of Wales P.S. in 1876
Prince of Wales Public School, built in 1876, is the oldest operating elementary school in the Simcoe County District School Board. The school is located in downtown Barrie, Ontario and shares a field with neighbouring Barrie Central Collegiate Institute. It is one of two elementary schools in Barrie, Ontario to offer an Extended French program. Prince of Wales Public School has been placed on the list of 'Prohibitive to Repair' schools in the Simcoe County District School Board, but with the help of many determined parents, local residents and teachers it has remained open. The administrative staff includes Jan Olson (principal), Debbie Watton (senior administrative support) and Mrs. Hutchinson (principal's assistant).
