Primates is an international journal of primatology whose aim is to provide a forum for the elucidation of all aspects of primates in relation to humans and other animals. It publishes original papers that contribute to the development of the scientific study of primates, and its scope embraces work in all fields of investigation, such as morphology, physiology, genetics, psychology, behavior, ecology, sociology, systematics, evolution, and laboratory primate medicine. Original articles as well as review articles, short communications, book reviews, and notes are included. The jounal was first published in 1957. Although the first volume contained only articles written in Japanese, subsequent volumes were published in English, thanks to a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation.
