She received her B.A. in 1977 from Yale University and M.F.A. in 1980 from the Yale School of Drama. She first became known for her role as Ellyn Warren in the 1980's hit television show, thirtysomething, earning a best supporting actress nomination at the 1988 Emmy Awards. She wrote the screenplay and produced the movie The Tic Code, which is about Tourette's syndrome—a condition her husband has. Draper also directed and written the film The Naked Brothers Band, part documentary, part mockumentary with a comedic twist about her sons lives, which is also a TV series on Nickelodeon. However she does not appear in the film or the TV series.

Personal life

In 1989, she appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show, where she met jazz pianist Michael Wolff where he served as the band leader from 1989-94. They married, and have two children: Nat Wolff and Alex Wolff. Draper was born into Phyllis, a Peace Corps administrator, and William Henry Draper III, venture capitalist and civic leader of the United Nations Development Programme.[1] Her brother is venture capitalist Tim Draper.[2] Draper's niece is actress Jesse Draper.[3]
