Philippus of Opus was one of Plato's students. Philippus was the editor of Plato's Laws. Opus was a city of Locris, a region near the channel separating Euboea from the mainland. Philippus of Opus is sometimes confused with Philip of Mende, the astronomer, who was also a disciple of Plato. Mende was a city of Ancient Greece, located on the Pallene finger of the Chalcidice peninsula in Macedon.
