Phil Small is an Australian bassist best known for his role in pub-rock band Cold Chisel. He is known for writing one of Cold Chisel's most well known songs, "My Baby" for the 1980 album East as well as numbers such as "Notion For You" off the Teenage Love album and "The Game". For Chisel's 1998 comeback album the Last Wave Of Summer Phil Small contributed the unnamed fifteenth track titled "Once Around The Sun" as well as co-writing with Steve Prestwich and Don Walker the song "A Better Time A Better Place" which appeared as a B side to one of the singles off Last Wave. Over the years Phil has played in a number of other bands such as Pound, The Earls Of Duke and The Outsiders. In recent times he also played with the Jimmy Barnes band on his 1999 tours. In the later part of 2000 Phil was kept busy touring with the Ian Moss band through the eastern states of Australia. In 2003 Phil once again teamed up with his old mates in Cold Chisel as they performed and recorded the “Ringside” album and DVD. In 2005 he again performed with Cold Chisel at the Tsunami Benefit at the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. Currently Phil is song writing and performing when the mood takes him. (taken from official Cold Chisel website) Phil is married to his wife Christine, with whom he has a son named Richard.
