Peggy Cartwright (November 14 1912June 12 2001) was a silent-era actress perhaps best known for her short stint as the leading lady of the Our Gang comedies. She appeared in four shorts in 1922 and, possibly, the pilot for the series (today a lost film). Her first husband was Phil Baker with whom she had four children. She married African American actor William Walker in 1962. Cartwright made an apppearance at the 12th International Sons of the Desert Convention in 2000. It was her first (and only) appearance at the convention, and she happily discussed her brief tenure in the Our Gang series [1]. Cartwright passed away shortly thereafter on June 12, 2001. She was the last surviving member of the original Our Gang group of children [2].
