Paul Young (17 June, 1947July 15, 2000) was a singer and percussionist who worked with several successful bands, including Sad Café and Mike + The Mechanics. He was affectionately nicknamed "Youngy" by his Mechanics bandmates Mike Rutherford and Paul Carrack (likely to avoid confusion with Carrack and the solo blue-eyed soul singer Paul Young, whose voice was similar to the late Young's). Paul Young was born in Benchill, Manchester, England. He died from a heart attack on July 15, 2000.
