Patriarch Raphael I of Constantinople (Patriarch from 1475 to 1476). As a Serb, he arose to the patriarchal throne with the help of Mara Brankovic, the stepmother of Mehmed the Conqueror. He remained Patriarch for about one year and was deposed after accused for been addicted to alcohol. It is believed that he was appointed Patriarch in an attempt of Mehmed the Conqueror to divide the unity of the Orthodox millet , and was deposed by the Greek bishops who wanted to regain control over the Patriarchate.
