- Gnaeus Papirius Carbo, consul three times during the 80s BC, son of the consul of 113 BC
- Gnaeus Papirius Aelianus, governor of Roman Britain between c. 145 – c. 147
- Lucius Papirius Cursor, consul five times during the 320s BC and 310s BC, dictator twice, general
The family is known as gens Papiria. Patrician families from this gens were Crassus, Cursor, Maso, Mugillanus. Plebeian families were Carbo, Paetus, Turdus.
