P. Arthanari Swamy (born 1958) is a resident of Komarapalyam, Tamil Nadu, India, whose profession is eating glass. In 1985, Swamy was suffering depression, and decided to crush a bottle into a powder, and mix it with a drink, to end his life during his night's sleep. Not dying, he repeated the act for his friends to prove that he had actually done such a thing. Since then, he has eaten and digested glass pieces and empty liquor bottles quite regularly. He eats glass and drinks pesticides at shows as his sole profession. The only glass off limits is that of thick soda bottles. Mr. Swamy was considering an approach to the Guinness Book of Records as of April 12, 2003.
