"Oh Boy!" is a song by Buddy Holly. It appeared on the album The "Chirping" Crickets, and was originally written by Sonny West, Bill Tilghman, and Norman Petty. The song was recorded June 29 - July 1 1957 at Petty Studios in Clovis, New Mexico with The Picks providing backing vocals. The song in an A-A-B-A format with a 12-bar blues verse and an 8-bar bridge. It was a A-Side, with "Not Fade Away" as the B-Side. The song peaked at #10 on the U.S. Charts, and #3 on the UK Charts in early-1958. The song was covered by British pop group Mud (band) in 1975 when it went to No 1 in the UK charts. Melanie released a version of the song in 1978 and for Stray Cats in 1996.
