Norris is a village in Fulton County, Illinois, United States. The population was 194 at the 2000 census. This is a decrease from the 1990 population of 212.

Geography

Norris is located at 40°37′32″N, 90°1′53″W (40.625521, -90.031517).GR1 According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), none of which is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 194 people, 85 households, and 58 families residing in the village. The population density was 689.8 people per square mile (267.5/km²). There were 98 housing units at an average density of 348.5/sq mi (135.1/km²). All of the residents of the village are White. There were 85 households out of which 21.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% were married couples living together, 10.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.71. In the village the population was spread out with 19.6% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 27.8% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 92.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.6 males. The median income for a household in the village was $27,000, and the median income for a family was $30,000. Males had a median income of $22,188 versus $18,125 for females. The per capita income for the village was $16,205. 4.6% of the population and 5.9% of families were below the poverty line. no-one under the age of 18 and 4.9% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
