Norbert Masur (1901–1971) was a Swedish representative who aided in the rescue of Nazi concentration camp victims during World War II. Masur was born in Friedrichstadt, Germany, and was the son of Leiser Masur. As an exiled Jewish German, he later moved to Stockholm. He was Sweden's representative to the World Jewish Congress, where he described a secret meeting with Heinrich Himmler on April 21 1945. Masur negotiated the release of over 1,000 persons (mainly women) from Ravensbrück concentration camp to Sweden.[1] Further negotiation led to the Swedish Red Cross rescuing 7,000 prisoners.[2]
