Nootka Island is an island near Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It contains 534 km² (206 sq mi) of area. It is separated from Vancouver Island by Nootka Sound. The island is named after a group of people indigenous to Vancouver Island, formerly called the Nootka. They are now referred to as the Nuu-chah-nulth.

History

It was abandoned in Nootka Convention (1795) by Spain.
