Ninja is a steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Over Georgia in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a custom built steel roller coaster that originally operated at Dinosaur Beach in New Jersey as Kamikaze. The ride has five inversions including a butterfly and a reverse sidewinder. The track is red with black supports, train is black. The coaster is built over a pond inside the park.
Operational information
Ninja's ride controller is set up to run with four blocks: Station, Lift, Main Brake, and Safety Brake. There is a transfer area between the safety brake and the station, but it is only a rotary switch into a storage track and therefore does not function as a block itself. An unusual feature of each train is that housed in the rear car is a set of batteries which provide power to the headlights and tail lights on each train. In recent years, though, these have not been used. The motor that powers the chain lift is located at the top of the lift hill. Most roller coasters have lift motors at the bottom of the lift hill for easy maintenance access. A device at the bottom of the lift hill keeps tension in the chain. Ninja is known as one of the most rough and intense coasters in the United States. In fact, it is the least popular U.S. maior roller coaster as voted by people on ThemeParkInsider, ThemeParkCritic, and other review sites. A good way to ride Ninja is to keep your head backward through the lift hill, then lean forward throughout the ride to avoid headbanging.
Ride Experience
The ride is built entirely over water to enhance the already intense experience. After dropping down the lift hill, riders head into the butterfly inversion, then through a banked turn and back into a vertical loop, another banked turn, through the second loop, and after the final turn go into two corkscrews. Finally, the train goes through a helix and into the final brake run.
