He was Archdeacon of Ely when he was first appointed chancellor by Henry III in 1260, but he was sacked in favour of Walter de Merton in 1261.[1] He also held prebends in the diocese of London and was a papal chaplain.[2] In 1263 he was appointed Treasurer and Chancellor again, but lost both offices later in the year.[1][3] He was elected to the see of Worcester about June 8 1266 and consecrated on September 19 1266.[4] He was enthroned at Worcester Cathedral on September 26 1266.[5] He was translated to the see of Winchester on March 2 1268[6] by Pope Clement IV. He was enthroned at Winchester Cathedral on May 27 1268.[7] He died on February 12 1280.[6]
