Released 2004
Genre East Coast hip hop
Label Def Jam

New York is a 2004 single by rapper Ja Rule, featuring Fat Joe and Jadakiss, from his album R.U.L.E.. The track was produced by Cool & Dre, and the chorus is taken from Boogie Down Productions' 1990 song, "100 Guns". The song peaked at #27 on the US Hot 100 chart, #14 on U.S. R&B and Hip-Hop, and #10 on Hot Rap Tracks. The single didn't achieve much commercial success, mainly due to the fact that New York's dominance of the hip hop industry was waining, but the song became an anthem for the city and gave Ja Rule a momentary return to the charts after his loss of popularity and feud with 50 Cent. 50 Cent would claim that by being on the song both Fat Joe and Jadakiss had sided with Ja Rule, and the two would also become targets of his insults. Cool & Dre produced the track for rapper Fat Joe, who turned it down initially. Jadakiss was said to be interested in the track but Ja Rule grabbed it almost immediately. When Irv Gotti learned of the history behind who was to have the track, he mentioned it to Ja Rule, and then they offered for both Fat Joe and Jadakiss to be featured on the track. .
