New Found Glory are an American pop punk band that formed in 1997 in Coral Springs, Florida, and is currently based in California.

History

New Found Glory formed in the middle of 1997 with Jordan Pundik on vocals, Chad Gilbert (formerly of metalcore band Shai Hulud) Steve Klein on guitar, Ian Grushka on bass and Joe Moreno on drums. The band's first release was 1997's It's All About the Girls EP, released by Fiddler Records in June. Soon after the recording of It's All About the Girls, Moreno was replaced by current drummer Cyrus Bolooki. Their subsequent debut album Nothing Gold Can Stay was released by Eulogy Recordings; the release of this album combined with an extensive touring schedule soon earned the band a significant following.

2000 - 2006

The band then signed to Drive-Thru Records [1], releasing an EP titled From the Screen to Your Stereo in 2000. Their self titled album A New Found Glory was then released by MCA Records, who had taken notice of the band's success while on Drive-Thru. The band's third studio album, Sticks and Stones, was released in 2002. This release was followed by their second appearance on the Warped Tour [2]. The album Catalyst was released in May 2004 and it debuted at number 3 on the Billboard album chart in late May, selling 146,000 albums in its first week [3][4]. After the release and tour in support of Catalyst, the band took an extended break before beginning preproduction for another album in 2005. On June 14, 2006, Gilbert announced to MTV.com that their fifth album would be titled Coming Home and that it was scheduled to be released on September 19, 2006. He also stated that first single, It's Not Your Fault would be released sometime in July 2006 [5].

2007 - Present

From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II, the band's follow up to From the Screen to Your Stereo, was released on September 18 2007. Unlike the earlier EP, Part II is a full-length album, containing 11 songs plus one bonus track for the Japanese edition and iTunes. The first single from the album was Kiss Me [6] and the video can be viewed on MySpaceTV.
In a recent interview, lead guitarist Chad Gilbert stated that a new album will be released hopefully in the summer of 2008. According to AbsolutePunk.net, the band will release a 7" record with 3 tracks on Bridge 9 Records containing both new material and covers of classic hardcore punk songs.

Current members

Jordan Pundik

Jordan Izaak Pundik (born October 12, 1979), is the lead vocalist.

His vocals appear on the tracks Kings of Hollywood and You're Not Alone on MxPx's 2003 release Before Everything & After. Jordan also lent his vocals to Tom Delonge's first non-blink-182 band, Box Car Racer on the song Cat Like Thief, along with the lead singer of Rancid, Tim Armstrong. He was married on September 5, 2005 and is currently separated.

Chad Gilbert

Chad Gilbert (born March 9 1981) is the band's lead guitarist. He was a singer for the popular and influential underground metalcore[7] band Shai Hulud before joining A New Found Glory. He is also a former member and songwriter of the hardcore punk band Hazen Street. He also performed a solo on Fall Out Boy's Infinity On High. He also performed guest vocals for the band Throwdown on the album Haymaker for the song The Only Thing.

Gilbert grew up in Coral Springs, Florida, but currently resides in Tyler, Texas. He married Eisley vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Sherri DuPree on Feb. 17th, 2007 at Villa di Felicita in Tyler, TX; Gilbert proposed to her at the Hollywood premiere of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, at the El Capitan Theatre. On December 5, 2007, it was confirmed that he had left DuPree[8]. Gilbert lives a straight edge lifestyle. He is half of the brains behind Movie Scenester a website that promotes that it is "for those who love movies as much as music or music as much as movies." [9]

Steve Klein

Steve Klein (born September 30 1979) is the secondary guitarist (rhythm guitar) and primary lyricist. He is one of the founding members of the band; he and Pundik are responsible for the name of the band, having thought it up while working at Red Lobster. Klein was also once kicked out of the band during its early days for not knowing how to tune his guitar. Klein gave up an English scholarship to pursue a musical career.

Ian Grushka

Ian Grushka (born September 4, 1977) is the band's bassist. He grew up in Coral Springs, Florida and was married on December 29 2001. He has a son, Oliver, who was born on September 11, 2005. Grushka has a tattoo on his right wrist of his son's name and birth date. Prior to starting A New Found Glory, Grushka and Pundik were in the bands Flip 60 and Inner City Kids together. Ian is also a former member of the group Hustlers In The Struggle.

He co-owns the record label Broken Sounds with bandmate Chad Gilbert. In December 2007 he started his own clothing company - King Doula.[10] Ian is overweight, and except for rare occasions, such as when the entire band wore Pennywise jerseys to commemorate that band's final day on the Warped Tour, performs shirtless onstage and in videos, his gut and love handles hanging over his pants. Arguably, this has become his trademark, making him one of the most visible members of the band.

Cyrus Bolooki

Cyrus Bolooki (born February 27 1980) is a musician of Iranian descent and the band's drummer.

Bolooki currently plays on Orange County Drum and Percussion drums, Remo Heads, Drum Workshop Hardware and Zildjian Cymbals. He also endorses his own model of Vater drum sticks called "Cyrus Bolooki: The Commander". He performs on a snare drum decorated with characters from The Simpsons that was given to him by his drum tech.
