Neil Goldman is a recurring character on Family Guy. Named after one of the show's writers and voiced by Seth Green, Neil is a stereotypical geek who lusts after Meg Griffin, who does not return his affections. He is the son of Mort and Muriel Goldman , who own a pharmacy , and goes to James Woods High. He is more confident than his father, but unfortunately, so confident that he doesn't seem to realize that Meg doesn't like him. Neil and his family are Jewish. Neil Goldman was introduced in the second season episode "Let's Go to the Hop", which established him as a fan of Star Trek: The Original Series and as an admirer of Meg. In "The Story on Page One", Neil was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. The episode also showed Neil has a smooth bass voice if he's not using his retainer. Unfortunately, he has never considered leaving his retainer off, limiting his chances for romance. Neil and Meg, working as interns for Channel 5, kissed in the episode "The Kiss Seen Around the World", but only because Meg thought she was about to die. During this episode it is suggested that he was inhabited by Samuel Beckett of Quantum Leap and that it's his mission to have Meg fall in love with him. He also declares that Captain Kirk is inherently superior to Jean-Luc Picard. In the fourth season episode "8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter", Neil started dating another classmate, and Meg immediately became jealous and agreed to be sold to the Goldman family as Neil's girlfriend, but regretted it very soon. Neil tried to resist Lois's seduction, but accepted the release of Meg from her contract and went back out with the other girl, leaving Meg jealous again and Lois disturbed by her own actions. Also in this episode, he mentions that he has psoriasis. Since this episode, Neil hasn't shown any interests in Meg and is hardly ever featured at all. However, in the episode "Brian Sings and Swings", when Meg inadvertently joins her school's lesbian club, Neil believes her to have become a lesbian and assumes that that was the reason she always rejected him. He appeared in the episode "Peter's Daughter", where he tries to attend Meg's wedding but finds his name is not on the list, so he tricks Chris, the usher, into letting him go under his name. This episode suggests that Meg has completely overcome her jealousy of Neil's girlfriend. The character is named after Family Guy writer Neil Goldman.
