This article is about the song by Dschinghis Khan. For the song by Rammstein, see Moskau (Rammstein song).

Moskau is a single by the German dance-act Dschinghis Khan. Its original release was in 1979, but in 2004 Moskau became a surprise hit on the Internet due to the sharing of a performance of the song from the group's glory days. Blogging viewers of the video commented that the wild disco dances, retro instrumentation, and happy German vocals are hilarious and oddly uplifting. The song and its video have become an internet fad. In Japan, the song created a separate internet fad in 2005 from a Flash animation with nonsensical Japanese lyrics based on the original German being misheard as Japanese (see mondegreen). There is also a mondegreened version on Youtube by YouTube user Buffalax, who also mondegreened Benny Lava. The link can be found here.

The song was used as the theme song to the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. The band was invited to perform, even though West Germany boycotted the games (due to Soviet presence in Afghanistan). The song is also a playable song on the Sony PSP game Taiko Drum Master Portable 2, as is Dragostea din tei, another song turned into an Internet meme. The song has also been covered by German black metal band Black Messiah.
