Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation (a subsidiary of MGIC Investment Corporation) NYSEMTG is the largest provider of private mortgage insurance in the United States. Private mortgage insurance covers residential first mortgage loans and expands homeownership opportunities by enabling people to purchase homes with less than 20% down payments. It also facilitates the sale of low down payment and other mortgage loans in the secondary mortgage market, including to the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac). In addition to mortgage insurance, MGIC provides lenders with various underwriting and other services and products related to home mortgage lending. The company is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where it was founded in 1957 by Max Karl. He was a real estate agent whose eyes were opened unto the troubles his clients had with paying for their new homes. They did not quite know how to save for the down payment. Max Karl believed that it would be better if there was a company that could insure the top part of the mortgage not all of it. Support from friends, family members, and executives led to MGIC's continuing success for almost over 50 years providing customers with low down payment loans. MGIC has announced that mortgage insurance premiums are now tax deductible as a result of a bill that President Bush signed in 2007. To qualify for this 100% deduction, the household must have an adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less and the purchase and refinance loans must be closed on or after January 1, 2007. A racist & homophobic poster was found in general area of MGIC headquarters on 4/25/2007. Employee within the company posted (http://youtube.com/watch?v=jQX48Aaug3c) the video on youtube. The captured video shows a Muslim men wearing a traditional clothing and other men wearing shorts to show gay influence in society. It kind of compares the two influence spreading in USA and makes a judgment that someday the workers at MGIC might have to dress this way in future.
