"Moonshadow" is a song from the album Teaser and the Firecat, released by Cat Stevens in 1971. It is also the title of his upcoming musical. Stevens, who is now known as Yusuf Islam, considers this his favorite of his old songs. It's one of the songs that convinced him to release a Greatest Hits record of his work as Cat Stevens. He felt its uplifting message could help people.[1]

Trivia

  • John Landis intended for the song to be heard in the horror film An American Werewolf in London, but Stevens refused to give permission, The song was used extensively, however, in the episode "Tracks" of the television series Airwolf.
  • The song was recorded by LaBelle for their 1972 album, also titled Moon Shadow .
  • The song was recorded by Mandy Moore on her 2003 album Coverage.
  • The song has been used in commercials promoting donation to societies for the disabled.
