Montreal East within the Island of Montreal.
Montreal East (in French: Montréal-Est), is a town in southwestern Quebec, Canada on the Island of Montreal as part of the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles–Montréal-Est. It is home to many large oil refineries.
- Shell Canada Montreal East Refinery : 161 000 bpd
- Petro Canada Montreal Refinery : 160 000 bpd
- Gulf Oil Canada Ltd. Montreal East Refinery : 64 000 bpd
TOTAL BPD : 388 000 bpd On January 1, 2002 it was merged into the City of Montreal. It voted on June 20, 2004 to demerge and was re-established as a town on January 1, 2006. It was the only community in the eastern half of the island that voted to demerge. Montreal East's mayor, Yvon Labrosse, won his seat by acclamation.
