Monster is a psychological thriller and murder mystery novel by Jonathan Kellerman. It is the fourteenth novel in the Alex Delaware series.
Plot introduction
A mutilated deadbody of a wanna-be-actor is found in the trunk of a car parked near an industrial area. Weeks later, another dead body appears in similar conditions in another location. This time its a female psychology doctor working in a state facility for psychotic criminals. One similaity of the mutilations was obvious. The eyes were targetted. The case goes to LAPD detective Milo Sturgis and to help him there in Dr. Alex Delaware, who is his friend and also the psychological consultant to the LAPD. They finds out that the eye mutilation was done infamously in the case of a family mass murder years ago, and the culprit is now in the same facility that the female doctor worked in. The media had described him as monster after muder of the family. Now, they are have to face the monster who appears to be in a deteriorated condition locked inside a highly secured cell in the facility. To add to the drama, the detectives gets a tip-off that the monster who hardly speaks, had said something that inplied the doctor's mutilated eyes. The game is on.
