Monica Shannon (1905?–1965) was an American author. She was born in Belleville, Ontario, but moved to the United States before her first birthday. Her first book, California Fairy Tales was published in 1926. That book was so popular that two years later she penned a sequel, More Stores from California. Her most famous work, Dobry, was written in 1934 and was given the Newbery Award a year later. Monica Shannon died on August 13, 1965.
