Molly Peacock (born 1947) is an American poet of the "New Formalist" school as well as a nonfiction writer. She was born in Buffalo, New York and presently lives in Toronto, Canada. Her poems have appeared in "The New Yorker", "The Nation", "The New Republic", "Southern Review", "Ohio Review", and "The Best of the Best American Poetry" among others. She is the author of five books of poetry. [1]

Education and career
Peacock received her B.A. magna cum laude from Harpur College at SUNY Binghamton where she was the director of academic advising from 1970 to 1973. She received her M.A. with honors from Johns Hopkins University in 1977. In 1978 she was selected as a poet-in-residence at the Delaware State Arts Council in Wilmington, DE. She has since been Poet-in-Residence at the American Poets’ Corner in New York City and former President of the Poetry Society of America. She is known on Wisconsin Public Radio’s "Here On Earth with Jean Feraca" for her quarterly poetry circles. She has also read her poetry at the Library of Congress, the Unterberg Poetry Center of the 92nd Street Y, Harbourfront (Toronto), and at universities and libraries. At the present Peacock is on the faculty of the Spalding University's Master of Fine Arts Program. She is also working with the College Boards and Advanced Placement English on how young adults connect to poetry. Peacock also performs what is titled the "Shimmering Verge" which is
- "...written and performed by Molly Peacock...a humorous, moving, and sexy 50-minute stand-up monologue using Peacock's best-known poems about her family, her spirituality, her marriage, and urban life. The one-woman show focuses on what she calls "the shimmering verge" -- the cusp of understanding that enriches ordinary existence and defines poetry itself."[2]
Ms. Peacock is one the of the creators of Poetry in Motion program. She also works with poets and writers throughout the United States and Canada on a personal basis.
