"Moi... Lolita" "L'Alizé"

"Moi... Lolita" (English: "Me... Lolita") was the debut single by French singer Alizée. It was popular in France, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Syria, Ukraine, Greece, Russia, Italy, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom.[1] It is one of the few songs in French, or indeed any other language apart from English, to be a UK Top 10 hit. Despite peaking at number-two on France, the song was one of her most successful songs in her country, and stayed in the top five for 24 consecutive weeks, held off from the top position by ·Les Rois du Monde" by Gregori Baquet, Damien Sargue and Philippe D'Avila. When her following single "L'Alizé" reached number-one, "Moi... Lolita" was still at a number-three position. The song was certified gold two months after its release, and diamond by SNEP for sales of over 750,000 singles in 2000. In total, the song sold over 1,282,000 units, becoming the thirty-first best-selling song in France. The song was instrumental in showcasing Alizée's image as that of a seductive Lolita character, referring to the novel by Vladimir Nabokov. The video for the single, which was the first to be filmed of her, showed Alizée as a village girl visiting a night-club. The lyrics to the song also make various references to the song writer, Mylène Farmer.[2] "Moi... Lolita" was also used in the trailer for Ridley Scott's film A Good Year. Moi Lolita was also released as the debut single of Nouvelle Star winner Julien Doré.
