Mo Twister (born Mohan Gumatay), is a well-known radio DJ personality in the Philippines. His free-spirited, loud "Mr. Brightside" persona has led to wide popularity in the Phillipines, although some have criticized him as "careless". Entering the radio business primarily as a way to earn pocket money for school as a teenager, Twister quickly turned him into a household name. His unconventional philosophies provided a fresh - but often controversial - perspective in the Philippines. As a teenager studying at De La Salle University, he leveraged good looks and an acerbic sense of humor into a highly successful stint on the "Early Returns Countdown" radio show on Magic 89.9. With his long-time on-air partner Miles, he broke new ground in Phillipine radio and gave birth to a rabid following in the nation. This turned what was originally a "sideline job" into much more - appearances on television, in commercials, in print ads and on billboards, notable appearances in movies, and even a recording contract. In 2002, Mo decided to leave the entertainment business to pursue his education in the United States of America. He stayed there for several years alongside girlfriend Janette McBride. However, he returned to Manila in late 2005 to host the morning show Good Times with Mo with Andi Manzano (aka "Andi-9") and Joseph Javier (aka "Mojo Jojo") on Magic 89.9. His "controversial" label comes from several sources:

  • His weekly Forbidden Questions segment in which he asks 40 personal/intimate/provocative questions to a celebrity guest
  • His rivalry with movie and radio personality Maui Taylor who resigned from the show on May 30, 2007 with little explanation after an on-air argument with Twister[1]
  • Romantic rumors - usually denied by Twister - which link him with several beautiful and well-known women, most notably on-air partner Andi Manzano and actress Rhian Ramos[2] [3] [4]

His most recent venture is a host spot on the Studio 23 (Endemol) television show Kabarkada, Break the Bank, which began airing August 27, 2007.[5]
