Miranda (Glynis Johns) is a mermaid. She is caught by a doctor (Griffith Jones) on holiday in Cornwall. He takes her to his home in London and tries to prevent anybody else from learning about her. Miranda's seductive nature earns her the admiration of several men and the jealousy of the women in their lives. Johns reprised the role in a 1954 sequel, Mad About Men.
