Career
Mike Shaw started wrestling in 1981 in Vancouver's NWA All-Star Wrestling using the ring name Klondike Mike. In 1982, Shaw went to wrestle for Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Alberta. He later changed his ring name to Makhan Singh and formed one of the more popular heel stables known as "Karachi Vice" and feuded with Owen Hart. In 1989 and 1990, he wrestled in World Championship Wrestling as Norman the Lunatic. He was managed by Theodore Long who led him around with a giant key, which Long used to keep him under control under threat of being returned to the psych ward. Norman eventually turned face after leaving Long (being re-named "Norman The Maniac") and feuded with Kevin Sullivan, and even received title shots at NWA World champion Ric Flair. In 1991, Shaw returned to his Makhan Singh gimmick in the Global Wrestling Federation where he joined The Cartel with Cactus Jack, Rip Rogers, and Scott Anthony (AKA Raven). Shaw wrestled in Mexico in the 1990s as Solomon Grundy where he was really over with the fans and even introduced his brother Aron (Aaron) Grundy. He feuded with Brazo de Plata after shaving Brazo's brother's head in a hair vs hair match. The feud ended with Shaw losing his hair at the hands of Brazo de Plata. He later feuded with his brother which led to a hair vs hair match that saw Aaron losing his hair. In 1993, Mike Shaw wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation briefly as Friar Ferguson, a "mad monk". The character was soon abandoned due to negative feedback from the Catholic Church and the media in the New York area. Shaw then became Bastion Booger, the name he is best known under. Essentially, Bastion Booger's gimmick was that he was completely disgusting. He wrestled in grey tights that were much too small and revealing for a man his size. A 401 pound (182 kg) man with missing teeth, Bastion would come down to the ring eating anything from melting ice cream bars to roasted chicken carcasses. He would burp and fart as the commentators talked about how disgusting he was. At one point he feuded with Bam Bam Bigelow, when Bastion tried to put the moves on Bam Bam's then valet Luna Vachon. The Bastion Booger gimmick began to become popular with WWF's younger audience, which spurred talks of turning the character face. However, the WWF decided to release Shaw in early 1994. Shaw retired from professional wrestling in 1998. He currently resides in Skandia, Michigan. He was spotted at a wrestling event in New Jersey wrestling for the National Wrestling Superstars in 2006, and occasionally worked as a bouncer at the now-closed Shamrock Bar in Marquette, Michigan. In 2005 he made a surprise appearance and also wrestled with the S.W.A. (Superior Wrestling Alliance). He was at the show in Manistique, Michigan, where he was in the main event. The main event was a six man tag. After the show he signed autographs and even encouraged everyone to get in the wrestling ring. On December 10, 2007 during the WWE Raw 15th anniversary special, he returned as Bastion Booger in the opening segment where it was jokingly suggested, by Triple H, that Big Dick Johnson is his kayfabe son.
