Mike Finn is a playwright and actor from Limerick, Ireland. He is noted for producing locally popular plays on Limerick History. His best known play, Pigtown (1999) covers the forgotten moments in 20th century Limerick history from the point of view of a dying man. The play, which is noted for its clever involvement of the audience, begins with a funeral procession which leads the audience out of the theatre, around the block, back into the theatre via the stage door and onto the stage. The audience then may sit or stand among the stage scenery for the play's duration, with several opportunities to interact with the story. Mike Finn's other plays include The Crunch (1992), Charlie Chaplin's Mother Was An Irish Man (1995) (both co-written with Terry Devlin), The Quiet Moment (2002) (read in London, March 2006), Shock and Awe (2003), Ellis Island (2003) and ONE (2006). All his plays (with the exception of ONE) have been produced by Island Theatre Company - of which Mike is a founder - and have been staged in the Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick, The University Concert Hall, Limerick as well as on tour throughout Ireland. Pigtown has been produced Off Broadway and in a number of regional American theatres, and Mike produced Ellis Island at the University of South Florida in 2003. Mike also writes the very successful Kilinaskully sitcom for Pat Shortt productions. He has also written weekly humorous columns for the Limerick Post newspaper. In September 2006 Mike traveled to Donegal where he worked with students from the Rosses Community School and clients for Worklink North West on wrighting a play about the stigma surrounding mental health. The play which was titled ONE was premiered in The Rosses Community School on November 7, 2006 with wide local acclaim.
