Middlesex is the central of the three counties into which Jamaica is divided. It covers 5041.9 km² and has a population of 1,183,361 (2001 census) giving it the largest area and population of the three counties. It has between 45-46% of the islands population and area. Middlesex includes Spanish Town, the original capital. It contains the following parishes:
