Michael O'Connor (b. 6 October 1987, Belfast, Northern Ireland) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays for Crewe Alexandra F.C.. O'Connor is a tough tackling, attacking midfielder.

Career

Michael O'Connor was spotted as a young teenager playing in the youth leagues of Irish football by Crewe Alexandra scouts. O'Connor shortly signed a scholarship with Crewe at the age of 16 and was impressing both Crewe Academy Director and coach, Steve Holland and Crewe Alexandra's manager Dario Gradi straight away. In the summer of 2005, O'Connor signed a new 3 year professional contract with Crewe, later in the 2005-06 season, O'Connor made his debut for Crewe at the age of 18. In the home match against league rivals Brighton, on 25 February 2006, O'Connor replaced Gareth Taylor in the 89th minute. He made his second appearance for Crewe in the club's final game of the 2005-06 season, against Millwall F.C. on 30 April 2006. O'Connor replaced Lee Bell at half time in the match and instantly made an impact, setting up two goals and hitting the post with his one shot. He is wildly expected to play a major role in Crewe's bid for promotion from League One in the 2006-07 season.
